Great Yarmouth Swim Week 2009

October Half Term

(Updated 3.3.09 with new information )

It’s that time of year again when we are booking our annual swim week in Norfolk.

This year we are having a change from Haven at Caister. Instead, sixteen families have already  booked at Cherry Tree Caravan Park in Great Yarmouth.  We have reserved a number of caravans at a special price but to get this lower price, the deposit has to be paid  within the next week. If you are interested, contact Ali Molyneaux (01525 211114) or add your name and contact details to the list on the main notice board at Tiddenfoot.

There are two caravans available  -  both have double glazing, and central heating, and you can check out details on the website. The 3 bedroom Waveney is £322 and the 2 bedroom Oulton is £292.

If you are reading this after 10th March, contact Ali (as above) to enquire about accommodation options.

Deposits

We need deposits as soon as possible please and no later than 8th March. Please make cheques for the deposit payable to LCSC and hand this to Elizabeth Dent Ali Molyneaux or Sue Kent at swimshop. The deposit is £50 per or caravan (or £25 per swimmer if you are booking your own accommodation)

Is this Your First Time?

You might like to know that:

  • the swimming is tailored for swimmers of all ages and ability, including Learn to Swim
  • with training every day / twice a day (Sun – Fri), you will be amazed at how much the swimmers improve
  • everyone joins in to help - sessions are run by Crusaders teachers to keep costs low
  • land training is on the beach or in the gym every morning
  • its not just about swimming – other things might include “a get to know everyone beetle drive”,  a night at the dogs,  pizza, go-karts, bowling and a swimming gala against Great Yarmouth Swimming Club… as well as all the entertainment offered at Cherry Trees.

Where do we stay?

  • Cherry Tree Caravan Park at Great Yarmouth.

  • Or you can book your own accommodation – you still need to add your name to the list , and pay a deposit, so we can work out the swimming groups.

What does it cost?

The cost of the accommodation depends on which caravan you book.  There is also a swimming cost of approximately £25 per swimmer.

 Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where does everyone stay?  Most people  are booking at Cherry Trees. But its fine if you prefer to arrange your own accommodation. There are other caravans available at Cherry Trees if you want to book direct – check out their website.

Q: Can we bring a friend?

Yes – there is a cost of £25 per swimmer. Relatives / friends who are not members are welcome to come with you

Q: I have a son / daughter who is not currently with Crusaders because they are under five – can they join in?

Yes – they can join in the Learn to Swim session but you will have to be in the water with them

Q: What are the facilities like at Cherry Trees?

We haven’t stayed there before so best to look at the Parkdean / Cherry Trees website.

Q: Where do we do the swim training ?

We hire the five lane pool at Great Yarmouth High School for the week. The pool and changing areas are newly refurbished.

Q: Can adults swim?

Hopefully yes.

Q: Will we miss any swimming if we book Saturday to Saturday or Friday to Friday?

No – the swimming runs from Sunday morning to Friday afternoon. If you book Friday to Friday, you will need to check out of your caravan on Friday morning but you can still swim that day. There is nothing organised during the day on either Saturday so you would have a free day to explore Great Yarmouth or the Broads.

Q: Will I get my deposit back if I change my mind

We are sorry but you will only get your money back if you can find someone else to take your place. You might want to take out your own holiday  insurance.
